Ready Event Go!

Our major event industry thrives on people who are good at what they do. And there's always demand for more.

We're using the growth triggered by the Games to help more hopefuls break into the arts and sports sectors with a program called Ready Event Go!

The program is delivering up to 400 traineeships to give companies the personnel they'll need around the Games and to give young people a foot in the door.

What's on offer

Ready Event Go! provides employers with:

  • direct access to motivated young people seeking Games-related traineeships
  • advice on accessing available traineeship subsidies
  • the chance to build an inspired and event experienced workforce.

Ready Event Go! provides young people with:

  • on the job training
  • a nationally accredited qualification
  • a head start in two of Victoria's most vibrant industries.

This program is delivered by Verve - Knowledge and Skills in partnership with the Recreation Industry Training Company.

What positions are available?

All packages are nationally accredited and include certificate levels 2, 3 and 4 in Sports and Recreation, and certificate level 3 and 4 in Arts Administration.

What do we mean by 'trainee'?

As the name suggests, trainees are provided with on the job training, but they are also employees.

Specifically, trainees:

  • are paid in accordance with the National Training Wage award, allowing for time spent in training sessions
  • often attract exemptions on payroll tax and worker's compensation
  • may be employed on a full or part-time basis.
