Transport overview
The Triathlon will take place on Melbourne's famous St Kilda foreshore, south of the CBD. The race consists of a 1.5km swim, a 40km cycle and a 10km run. More than 100,000 spectators are expected for this free event. Spectators will be encouraged to travel to the course via tram or walk from St Kilda Junction. Residential Permit Parking arrangements that exist prior to the Games will remain in operation during the Games. While Permit holders retain their rights under that permit, they are still required to comply with the Games-related temporary parking restrictions operating in that area. (No Stopping/Tow-Away zones apply to all vehicles).
All Road Event courses were publicly announced in July 2005. Approximately 150,000 booklets containing course routes and event dates and details were distributed throughout local communities where Road Events are taking place. There will be ongoing communications in the lead up to the Games to help communities fully understand the local arrangements that will be in operation.
