Transport overview

The Cycling Time Trial is a free event which takes place between St Kilda and Mentone along Beaconsfield Parade, Marine Parade, Ormond Esplanade, St Kilda Street, The Esplanade and Beach Road. Spectators will be encouraged to catch a tram to St Kilda Junction and walk to the course. Residential Permit Parking arrangements that exist prior to the Games will remain in operation during the Games. While Permit holders retain their rights under that permit, they are still required to comply with the Games-related temporary parking restrictions operating in that area. (No Stopping/Tow-Away zones apply to all vehicles)

All Road Event courses were publicly announced in July 2005. Approximately 150,000 booklets containing course routes and event dates and details were distributed throughout local communities where Road Events are taking place. There will be ongoing communications in the lead up to the Games to help communities fully understand the local arrangements that will be in operation.

Affected roads

The roads that make up the course will need to be closed to construct the course on the Familiarisation day and event day. The following roads will be closed from 9.00am Monday 20 March until approximately 5.30pm Tuesday 21 March.:

A number of other roads will act as access points to Beach Road, The Esplanade, Ormond Esplanade and Marine Parade as well as properties located to the west of these roads.
