In terms of Business, the Games is already generating significant opportunities. The procurement process alone represents the largest spend on goods and services in Victoria's history, with an estimated 5000 direct suppliers required to deliver to Games.

All Games contracts are subject to the Victoria Industry Participation Policy. This requires tenderers to consider local employment and local content opportunities wherever they offer the best value for money. Working in partnership with the Industry Capabilty Network (ICN) the Victorian Government is providing support to M2006 to implement Victoria Industry Participation Policy and promote local content in Games procurement.

Industry Capability Network has also developed the Games Industry Link website. This website connects Victorian and Australian businesses with supply opportunities generated by the Melbourne 2006 Commonwealth Games, as well as opportunities associated with other projects both locally and overseas.
