Melbourne International Shooting Club

Set in Port Melbourne, just fifteen minutes from the city centre, the Melbourne International Shooting Club will host the small bore and pistol shooting events at the 2006 Commonwealth Games.

The venue has received a major upgrade in preparation. Improvements include extending the 25 and 50 metre range, and installing new target systems on each. The 25 metre range now will be able to accommodate 32 athletes at any one time, with the 50 metre range having a 40 competitor capacity. The 50 metre range now also has a new target system that will allow for computerised scoring and results.

Even before the 2006 Commonwealth Games, the upgrade to Melbourne International Shooting Club is boosting Victoria's capacity to host major events. In January 2005, the redeveloped club hosted shooting events for the Deaf Olympics and the Commonwealth Shooting Championships in March 2005.
