Melbourne Gun Club

 

Located in the outer eastern suburb of Lilydale, about 40 minutes from the CBD, Melbourne Gun Club is gearing up for eight days of Commonwealth Games clay target shooting.

The club has received an equipment upgrade to bring it up to an international standard. With work completed in early 2005, it has already hosted the the Commonwealth Federation Shooting Championships.

Key facts and figures:

- 15 Mattarelli clay target machines for international grade 'trap' and double 'trap' have been installed;

- Two clay target machines for international grade 'skeet' have also been installed;

- Refurbishment of the trenches that house the traps;

- New voice activated release systems ("pull!") and better scoring display monitors;

- Set against the picturesque Yarra Ranges.
